This you infuse materia into the scroll to upgrade you weapon. Since you are most likely doing this for either glamour or because want to complete everything- it really doesn't matter what materia you put into the scroll. Just know you have to put 75 materia into it. Now to do this you need Alexandrite.
This cannot be traded or sold on the market board and there is only 3 ways to get them (I only did 2 ways so I don't know about the one). Now one way is by completing fates with your weapon equipped (I have not tried this way- so I don't know if this works still). The other two ways is by doing Hunts and going to the Billmaster at your Grand Company. The Allied Seals you earn from hunts can be turned in for Alexandrite:
The 3rd way is to do Mysterious Maps. Mysterious Map can be obtained 2 ways: from Auriana- which you should know where she is by now, and from a daily quest called Morbid Motivation.
Morbid Motivation can only be unlocked by a quest called One's Man Trash. This quest opens next to Jalzahn, with an NPC name Ealdwine. Sorry I did not take a picture of it when I opened the quest- but the quest is literally right next to Jalzahn. Ealdwine will have you take a item to his mother in Mor Dhona- aka Revenant's Toll. Her name is Brangwine.
When you give her the item Morbid Motivation is available. This quest can be done once a day for the Mysterious Map. When you get one, you can decipher it to find treasure location.
Now if your stuck and cannot figure out where the treasure chest could be: https://sites.google.com/site/reliczodiac/relic---novus/alexandrite-maps: this site will help you out.
Once you find you chest, you will have to kill off the mobs that come to defend it. Defeat them and claim your prize, aka your 5 Alexandrite stones. For every map you do- you get 5 stones.
Now that the Alexandrite was explained- you will need to use the Alexandrite to fuse materia with the scroll. 75 materia total.
Here is the thing- it doesn't always work. So you may need more materia to complete this step. Let me go into more detail with this as well. If you look at the picture below- the chance of the materia fusing with the scroll is extremely high- 100%:
However, it's not going to stay at 100%, it will gradually get lower and lower- as you will see in the following screenshots.
It will eventually get to the point of 60%- the last time you get meld that particular type of materia to the scroll:
Now if you don't have a particular materia and try to fuse it with the scroll- it will tell you:
If you can't meld anymore- if will also tell you that as well:
If you look at the top right corner- it will show how many materia has been infused with the scroll.
Once you have completed this step- take your weapon to Jalzahn. You will need to un-equip it and click on the Animus enhancement. Once you do this, you have a Novus weapon.
Equip this weapon to start the next quest. Mmmmmm, Soulglazed Relics is started by none other then Jalzahn, who will send you to Gerolt. Both talk about how to enhance your weapon further- and well my friends- your light farming is about to begin. Gerolt will give you a Zodiac glass to help you see how far you have to go. This will go into your normal inventory. If for some reason you misplace it- aka discard it- talk with Drake, right by Gerolt to get a new one.
Now before light farming, you need to un- equip your weapon and click on the Novus Soulglazing. You can now start light farming. There are things you need to know. You get "points" based on light values. You need a total of 2000 points to complete this phase.
So these are the light values (aka how many points you can get when you see this text)
Now when you use your Zodiac glass if will tell you how you are doing by the same method. So no you don't get points- you get an indicator.

If you look, when I took this screenshot- my relic had robust activity, meaning it was somewhere within the 1200 to 1399 range.
Now on https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Nexus_Zodiac_Weapons/Quest (which by they way- is where I'm getting the information on point values and whatnot) also has examples for dungeons, raids, etc. Note all have to be from A Realm Reborn- NOT after.
Now you maybe wondering about bonus. That's in game. Every 2 hours you can possible get a bonus. I don't think I every did (however I also was light farming during patch 5.2. Quick tip, if you have friends leveling- particularly at the 50 range- this is a great way to light farm. Myself, by this time I had all jobs to 80, so if I wanted to do roulettes and get some tomes as well as light farm- queuing with a friend made it SOOOOOOooooo much easier!
Now once you do get it complete- you will get a nice notification....
And in case you had to walk out of the room at the final boss- you can also check your Zodiac glass.
Head back to Jalzahn, un-equip the weapon, and click on Novus Modification.
Once upgrade- you will now have a Nexus Relic. Your almost done! Now onto part 3
